Pirate Royalty

I’ve been working on this game for about a year now, inspired by an old MMORPG called Tales of Pirates that was shut down in 2016. Tales of Pirates was a 3D adventure game set in the age of Vikings, where players could explore the vast ocean, fight against pirates and sea monsters, and join different factions. 

We added a unique control scheme that required both keyboard and mouse to play a Top-Down game, and offered a variety of classes and skills to choose from.

While I admired the concept, the outdated engine and numerous bugs prompted me to breathe new life into it using Unreal Engine 5. My game is a remake of Tales of Pirates, but with improved graphics, performance, and gameplay. I also plan to add new features such as dungeons, additional class quests, skills, and ships.

My day job revolves around Unreal Engine development, making the project’s progress dependent solely on my skills and the 2 hours I can dedicate to it daily. My familiarity with the engine allows me to achieve a significant amount of work within that timeframe.

What’s particularly exciting is that I aimed for everyone to be able to play the game in its early stages and provide feedback. This feedback will shape the game based on what players envision it to be, ensuring its longevity. You can download the game from the Discord link provided in this post and start playing today!

Even now, players can immerse themselves in the starting quest and a class quest, and experience the thrill of the game’s combat system. PvP is already open for those interested.
